Our Facility No Longer Meets the Needs of People and Pets in Our Community
The Humane Society of Southeast Missouri has occupied the over 50 year old building for over 40 years. The building has deteriorated and was never meant to hold the 3,000 animals that pass through its doors every year.
A new pet center has become a necessity.

Metal surfaces are rusted and impossible to clean.
We lack the proper space for cats and dogs. Cages are always full.
We do not have proper ventilation throughout the building which makes it impossible to control disease and regulate temperature.
Current environment is unpleasant for adoptees and staff. We have no space to get to know your new family member.
The new center will meet and exceed regulations from the State of Missouri Department of Agriculture and will offer:
Separate ventilation systems to help control spread of disease.
Proper surfaces that can be maintained and cleaned.
Group housing for cats allowing for interaction and space.
Larger kennels with systems in place to prevent disease.
Larger spaces reducing stress for pets.
The new building will allow us to expand our services.
Humane education programs that will encourage empathy and compassion in years to come.
